In this activity, students are introduced to mechanical, electrical and computer engineering, and work in teams to complete a series of projects that culminate in building a mobile robot. Through these projects, students learn how to write programs that control a physical device, and build simple electrical circuits. The students also practice how to research, design and implement systems to improve capabilities of the robot. Topics in this activity cover: history of robotics, artificial intelligence, sensors, path planning, kinematics, feedback and feed forward mechanisms, computer vision, and machine learning.
