The ITD Course is divided into two paths (i) Research Production Path (2A) and (ii) Training Production Path (2B). The senior-year students of Dar Al Fikr interning at the event planning company ‘20Formation’ founded under DAF Intrapreneurship Program (DIP) are given an exclusive opportunity to combine ‘action’ with ‘research.’
Action Researchrefers to a wide variety of evaluative, investigative, and analytical research methods designed to diagnose problemsin the field and help researchers/interns develop practical solutions to address them quickly and efficiently. The general goal is to create a simple, practical, repeatable process of iterative learning, evaluation, and improvement that leads to increasingly better results for the organization, in this case, 20Formation.
The unique combination of the action and the research is what distinguishes action research from most other forms of traditional research. The students, while interning at their respective jobs at the company, will identify a real problem experienced in their field and follow a reflective process that allows for inquiry and discussion as components of the ‘research.’ The interns are responsible for formulating research questions, reviewing the literature, documenting the steps of inquiry, collecting and analyzing data, and making informed decisions that can lead to desired outcomes in the company. The implementation of the desired outcomes (strategies/action plan) in the company are part of the ‘action’component.
